Is the artwork that is found on “Lost Surfboards” painted on the foam or in between the glassing process? And what kind of tools are necessary to accomplish that kind of art? SteveA http://www.lostenterprises.com/scripts/spoto.php

SteveA Usually it’s done on the foam. All you need is some Hustler Mags, anime, a joint, an airbrush kit and a compressor. The work is very solid but the content is not my cup of tea. http://www.airbrush.com/

Where do I find “paint pens” and will they apply thick enough to cover an ugly logo? Do I need to rough the surface first with sandpaper? Then the clear acrylic spray to seal? Thanks a lot, certainly don’t want the board to look worse it does now if I use the wrong stuff. Ride on, Dan
I see some lost surfboards in the shop. It’s painted on the finished sandout I think with uni posca pens and sometimes mix with airbrush. But about 4 years ago some lost have art on the foam (I think lost made in south africa) boards are finished with speed finish coat.>>> …I think most of the Lost art is paint pen,I’m sure some of it is > airbrush, but most of the art is just drawn on the finished sandout, then > it’s coated lightly with acrylic spray.Herb http://www.theglasser.com

Anyone try anything like this before… am I awaiting disaster? Worst I could see is it fades, or stains a color I don’t want… but with that little in the mix… (famous last words) Whats the worst that can happen?
We have been using the guys @ evolution surf designs, they have custom art that they print onto ricepaper that is pretty inexpensive, You can buy one of there designs or send them your art and they will print it inexpensively. just laminate directly on foam or inbetween deck layers, and squegee. > …I think most of the Lost art is paint pen,I’m sure some of it is > airbrush, but most of the art is just drawn on the finished sandout, then > it’s coated lightly with acrylic spray.Herb

they sell the paint pens that the company lost uses. it was in the back of one of my surfer mags. but just regular paint pens with acrylic do the same thing. http://members.cox.net/austinsurfboards
