Sometimes it pays off. Once I was in a local surf shop and asked everyone in listening distance if anyone had a Karman-Ghia for sale. Someone did and I bought it half an hour later for $250. Later in the 70’s I was sitting on a beach in Costa Rica and a Land Rover showed up and the guy acted like he knew the territory. I asked him if he was Bill Cleary (former SurfGuide magazine publisher). Amazingly, he was and he was pretty surprised someone would think such a thing.
So now I’m asking if any of you road bike riders out there has a Cinelli XA quill stem (mid 1980’s) between 90 cm and 110 cm to sell me. I’ve been checking all the regular places and they’re not too easy to find it seems.

Actually, I know exactly what you’re after and sadly no, I don’t have one, I suggest you check with the guru’s at www.parker-international.co.uk those folk can find anything.
If you are in CA you might try Cambria bicycle outfitters in SLO. Call the SLO store. Dont go through the website or the Cambria store. Ask for Pancho. He has been a bike mechanic for 20 something years (pro road, MTB and many different shops) IF he doesnt have one, I am sure he can find one for you. I have one on my 85 paramount, but it is not for sale.
Try Ebay or Craigslist.com. I’ve found many obscure cycling items on both sites, or just try googling in the item in google search…who knows! Good to see other surfers into road biking!!
Thanks to Steiny for the 90cm Cinelli stem. That frees up the 130 cm stem for a little center fin experimentation. Trying to get the turbo-slot/venturi to work but it feels like some drag with a fair bit of squirreliness. Still working on it. Needs more base?
