Jim, I have a few questions about the “hollow ground” hand plane blades you discuss on the vid and also about the spoke shaves. As an old hockey skater we “hollow ground” our ice skates so the skate blade actually had two edges to turn on. As the center of the surface of the blade laying flat on the ice was ground away, a concave surface was created leaving two sharp edges on eather side of the blade. With that mental picture…are the blades you use in your hand plane cut concave or convex? Pertaining to the spoke shave…you mentioned grinding the spoke shave to use around the nose. what exactly are you doing on that spoke shave to modify it. It doesn’t shou up to clearly on the video.
