ATTN:"Shaper".....on Super-crylic..........

…I went to the S&F store yesterday to buy a gallon of just there regular acrylic floor shine,I noticed it was about a buck more for the regular stuff over the Super-crylic.I asked the store attendent about the differences, and he claimed that the super was better,glossy-er. …I’ve used loads of the regular, but got lazy and didn’t want to drive for it(about 5 miles),so I’ve been using “Future” it costs a lot more per volume, but it works well as a sealer(both finished board, and after painting blank),and a mix for my airbrushing paints, rather than using water,or thinners. …Do you know the difference between the two?( iris-super vs iris-regular). …Do you know if I can seal a painted blank with it? …Can I mix it with my paints, like the future floor job? …I will test it for sure, but I was wondering if you or someone you know has been down this road before?Herb

HERB- I WOULDN’T ADVISE SPRAYING A SHAPED BLANK WITH THIS STUFF- I HAVE APPLIED THIS TYPE OF ACRYLIC TO THE SANDED RESIN OF A SURFBOARD AND THEN FOUND OUT THE BOARD WAS SUPPOSED TO BE A GLOSS- POINT IS- I SANDED THE BOARD AS WELL AS I COULD (TO REMOVE AS MUCH ACRYLIC AS POSS)- AND THEN GLOSSED THE BOARD- THE GLOSS COAT WENT ON OK BUT I NOTICED SOME SPLITTING ALONG THE RAILS AND IN THE CENTER OF RBOARD- THE RESIN WAS PUT ON CORRECTLY- I BELIEVE THAT THERE WAS A REACTION- ALSO AFTER WIPING THE ACRYLIC ON A SANDED BOARD, I CHOSE TO WIPE MY HANDS WITH A CLOTH SOKED IN ACETONE- THE ACRYLIC TURNED TO RUBBER ON MY HANDS - AH ORANGE CLEAN TO THE RESCUE.HOPE THAT HELPS.

THE DIFF BTWEEN THE REG AND SUPER IS THAT THE SUPER HAS A HIGHER SOLIDSCONTENT- MEANING WHEN THE ACRYLIC DRYS, IT WOULD DRY ‘THICKER’ THAN THE REG- SHAPER OUT-

…Sorry,I didn’t notice that buggie made a post on my computer, and I didn’t want anyone to get the wrong impression. …Thanks for the feedback Shaper, that helps loads.Herb
