Hey there Kokua…glad to see you’ve been back and posting after you’re ordeal…hang in there! Yeah, Im with ya on insurance. Its one less thing for the cops to mess with you about. And by the way Lazarus, it helps to keep your boards inside the car as opposed to on the roof. The cops love to pull speed traps on highway 200 and when they see surfboards on the roof they see $$$ and usually flag you over!
Once again you guys, thanks a million.
BTW… I think you may know my brother Ben, chipfins61.
Happily, he got me onto the Swaylocks brother (and sister) hood.
It is certainly a helpful and caring network of unmet friends.
Thanks again, Simon.
Howzit flatlands, One thing I leaned in Baja for those still brave enough to drive down there is to buy maybe 1 or 2 days of insurance on the cali side just before crossing then hit Ensenada on the way south and find out where to buy the government auto insurance. I couldn't believe how cheap it was, something like $ 100 a year. you are supposed to be there only 6 months of the year but how can they tell how long you've been there. When I was buying mine there as a gringo who lived in Cabo and his car was registered in Baja and it blew me away when he told me his insurance was $1,000 a year because it was registered there. All my boards fit in the pick up bed and they couldn't see them.Another tip is don't drive on Sundays if you don't have to, that's mucho barracho dia. Aloha,Kokua
Hiya Simon,
Does this mean we won’t see you in Indo this year?
Dave
Hasn’t been said - but if you need to be on the cheap and camp in one place, there was the only legal camp ground in the whole Cabo area was in San Jose about 1/2 mile east of a right point, which gets packed, but you can get waves, and they seemed to be the best around… I walked down the beach every day before dawn, and back and back again, and back in the dark after the sunset session… Easy to find on many a web site.
Hi Dave.
No, still off to Indo, just 1 trip instead of 2 though.
I’ll be there late july til mid sept.
Cheers mate.
Simon,
I’ll be there from late June to mid August and hopefully again later in the year. Not sure whether I’ll go east or west though.
Dave
