Just sanded my laps and the auto pinline separated from the glass/epoxy and left a big airbubble in many spots. Anybody out there have similar experiences? I have read that many people have used this with success.
Thanks
Bill

You mean you taped the blank or over the lam and are using the auto tape(left on the board) as the pinline?
If so, this is not the method everyone here employs
I layed auto pinline tape on the blank then glassed over it.
I use it all the time under the timberflex designs. I have had some problems with the wider tape, but usually stick to the 1/32-1/16 wide stuff. anything wider than 1/4 will cause problems.
But with that said, the delam is only on the tape line, and has caused no structural problems in boards that have been ridden hard for over 2-3 years. So in my opinion it is a cosmetic issue and not so much a structural issue.
You can also use narrow masking tape in 1/16 in. The colors are limited to Black and red, but it does wet out and become more one with the lamination.
I use auto pinlining tape on my lam, but that is tape that is used in conjunction with acrycic (acrylic paste in a tube) that is smeared within the boundaries, dries, then lift all the tape off.

This guy uses masking tape(twice) instead of a more elegant and easier auto pinstripe tape that is easier for someone with less exp and it all comes off when your done.
The tape you are using is inappropriate to surfboards, glass and resin wont stick to its smooth surface.
Although Resinhead may be able to accomplish it all with exp, and wooden surfboards, he is doing a disservice to you and confusing your 1st timer bones.

6mm automotive pinstripe tape = stuck to polyester fill coat (sanded 400# then wipe over with acetone first). then flat off the pinstripe to take the shine off with 220#, then final sanding coat with RR epoxy. not a problem.
Could you post a pic? I use it all the time under epoxy and have had no prob. Except on really really hot days when the adhesive lets go before the epoxy cures.
Sorry Greg no pics. I decided to cut it all out as I spent too many hours on this board to have it look like Sh!t in the end. The glass just separated over the pin line. There was good adhesion on both sides of the tape. Just cut it out like a cut lap. It was 1/4" wide 3M tape. It was on a veneered board at the veneer joint. It could have been that there was some air pockets below the tape as the veneer and the foam were not perfectly flush. This could have caused some movement at the pinline therefore some separation. I had some pinline on the deck that seemed to be good. Perhaps I should have layed some resin at the joint to fair it all out first.
