I’ve always wanted to surf Makaha, it was my dad’s favorite spot when he lived there 40 yrs ago. And still tells stories about it. Will definitely check it out.
Thanks again for the info, we’ll also look at Alii, Puena, Chuns.
but Chuns, Sunset Beach and Puena are problem high probability car break-ins spots cause that's where all the rental cars can be found.
Be safe and assume the worse
Alot of unemployed hotel and construction workers living the "free-lifestyle" up on the northshore who need to pay rent and need money for their batu fix.
Say all the bad things you want about Stand up Paddle surfing but watching the guys surfing in that video really shows that SUP surfing is really surfing and not a bunch of KOOKs out in the water getting in the way. Thanks for the video! In regards to the tourist car brake-ins it is a real problem! Ever Kauai person that I know that has gone over there at one time or other has had their rental car broken into . When my wife, son and I were there last year our car was broke into and I was only 50 feet away with my back turned for less than 3 minutes. The police told me they get so many brake ins there that they often cant respond and if the tourist knew how bad it really is they probably would just by pass Oahu and go to the outer islands. The good thing for us is they only got three back packs full of dirty laundry as I do not leave anything of value in the car.
