The evolution of design appears to have taken steps do to the poor quality materials that were available at the times of change. Bad quality balsa wood promoted foam. Bad quality polyurethane foam pushed new ideas in other foam directions. This is one big reason for the composite trend. So, we are the guinea pigs of the future.
