one of the balsa boards i made ,the second one to be exact,6ft, 4oz under ,6 bottom, 2x6 on the deck, 6lb in weight,i made it for son no 2 who is still in australia,rather than leave it until he came home i lent it out to a younger friend of mine to see how it stands up,
he has logged the hours he has put in, 150 so far ,if you surf twice a week for 2 1/2 hrs a session, this is about 7 1/2 months average use, so i got it back to scrape off the wax and have a look at the deck, there was no visable deck dents at all !not a small one ,none whatsoever,
there is a small indent under the nose where a longboarder ran into him and thats it
i think this is the best method of surfboard making there is i have seen so far to give light and durable boards,one of the last boards my son had was a js industries and the deck on that looks like golf ball until it buckled
