Thanks Mike. Doing some more measurments and taking a closer look at the tail seems the one side of the squash tail had more curve then the other just cut a round tail templet and so we are now going to have a 7'10" round tail might also ad some wings just for fun.
LOL, Gary Philhower just showed up at my door and he's the only guy I knew that had ET's new phone #. For all kind of repairs and epoxy glassing service, just call 321 446 7332!
Seems Like the gods of Surfboard repair are sending good vibes. You have earned a 6 pack of your favorite malted adult beverage
Yeah, that worked out well for getting the #.... Be careful doing all that stripping and sanding, any density variations in the balsa will develop high and low spots when sanded. I think that board will look better as a roundtail also.
It does look better as a round tail I have done a temporary set of wings just to see what they would look like. They actually look pretty good. I have also started on the channels.
Mike Thanks for the tip. I use a large block with a rubber face when sanding. I learned a lot about sanding wood when I had my Yacht restoration and painting business. The concaves are being done by hand. Pics of the progress will be posted soon.
Progress has been slow. Been correcting a lot of mistakes. but it is taking shape and i like what I see
