Balsa source in San Diego!!!

I made the drive up to Frost Hardwoods in Miramar today sure that I would come home with a lot of balsa for my compsand project. Turns out they don’t have any and don’t forsee getting more in the near future(at least 6 mo). Bummed, wasted an evening that I hoped to use building. Anyways, does anyone have a good source within driving distance of San Diego? I really want to get some material that is longer than 48 inches. Obviously I am looking for sheets, being a compsand. Thanks in advance…

I was wondering the same thing.

The last time I was there, I noticed that Frost had a lot of Bass wood. It is more dense than Balsa, but lighter than most of the other wood species sold there. I think it is somewhere between 20 and 25 pounds per square foot.

Last time I was Austin in Santa Ana they had Balsa lumber in the rack.
