I am looking for someone in the Southern California area who specializes in repair and refurbishing of Balsa wood longboards. I have an early 1960’s 8’6" balsa longboard that has been left out in the sun. The sun damage delaminated some of the fiberglass, as well as cracking some other sections of the glass. The cracks were not sealed and one rail of the board was allowed to rot under the fiberglass. I want to have the board stripped, the rotten wood replaced and reshaped, and the board reglassed to hang on the wall in my living room. I am looking for any leads on who could provide this type of service for me. If anyone can help me out on this please e-mail me at mvas@lawa.org. Any help will be appreciated.

Flyboy, brought his old trusty balsa board to me yesterday, I had to make one of the saddest phone calls, it had been out in the weather for years and had become infected terminally with termites,. Not just a few, but when I peeled a strip of the glass off the bttom from the fin forward, it was only termite galleries, with thin veils of wood between the tunnels. From the mud inside I could tell they were subterrainian termites. Mike said it had been out side for years, with contact with the earth, God rest it’s soul
