I couldn’t find any local (Melbourne, Aust) suggestions in the archives so I thought I’d pose the question. Where do Melbourne swaylocker’s get their bamboo veneer from? I’m in North Melbourne, so somewhere nearby would be great, but happy to go for a bit of a drive as well. Online suggestions are fine too, although Oz based would best (as I expect it might be tricky to import timber products into this country).
Thanks Rohan. I also just found www.plyco.com.au, who have an outlet in Fairfield. They have 2500x1250mm x 0.6mm bamboo veneer for about $70. I’ll give them a shot first, since they’re nearby.
Below is the details, I was trying to get the banana paper as I wanted to try and do board made of that product, but they gave me some small samples of veneer instead. (great stuff just dont a vac set up yet…)
I spoke to the head of their tech dept and said the product isnt in full production but getting close.
They have a range of veneers they sell as single sheets, including bamboo. Some really pretty woods that I’ll try in the future. They’re in your neck of the woods (concrete).
I took a veneered board in to show them and they were stoked.
Warning: Don’t mention the seagulls on the roof! It gets them riled up
