Hey artist 4 peace, I would love to take a spin on your Andreini hahaha. Post up some pics of your board artwork, love to see it. Hope to get out again soon, haven't been surfing much due to circumstances, just a few waves at south jetty some weeks back, when they had the triathelon.

My favorite part of this photo is that this guy put his racks on in a way that now he can’t open his doors
HA!!! Awesome!!!
More pictures please, I will add some when I find some victims...
what’s worse, is when you put your boards on the rack the right way, and things still fuk up.
3 yrs ago, had just gotten a new custom Ward Coffey epoxy summer board, finished up a session, put it up on the roof after bagging it, snugged down the Patagonia bands I had been using for a couple of months, and hit the road for home.
Driving along, hear a noise from the roof, in the rear view mirror see my new board spinning in the air behind, lands on the highway, promptly run over by the old guy towing his big RV trailer behind him.
Crushed and shattered, unrepairable…clean snap on the front band, so it just caught air, lifted up and flew…
Call up Patagonia…“we’re sorry, that rarely happens…we’ll be happy to send you a new band if you’ll send us both pieces”…
From then on, have only used Da Kine cargo straps…
Ya----! Blame it on the Old Guy towing the big RV behind him !! Old guys got no business out there on the road !! If he hadn't been there maybe your board would have been repairable. Dam old guys anyway !!!!
you’re trippin Wood Ogre…I’m over 60 myself, and it wouldn’t have mattered if it had been a fellow elder towing an RV or a young buck driving his BM’r…
Wow!!! this threads still going, fun read HMMM soup nazi, sushi nazi,Chilly Willy the hot dog nazi. rack nazis? It is true people hate other people because they think different. LOL
This one is evidence summer has arrived.

Gotta make sure the pads don’t get a ding. ![]()
I am not sure if this board became a road hazard or made it to the beach…
The main cause of boards coming off racks is due to the strap buckles. Those straps with the spring-latch buckles commonly sold in most surf shops are crap, don’t use them. The spring corrodes and then all tension of the strap is gone. Use the type found on backpacks that doesn’t have the spring. You can get good plastic ones (no corrosion) at West Marine, or if you prefer rope, there’s a lot of sailboat rigging stuff that you can use. In any case, always check the condition of the buckles and webbing.
The best fly-away I’ve seen was an 8’ fun board that spun and sailed way up in the air and gently landed on some tall grass a million feet away. The car just kept on going.
Why do you want to ban me. I am one of those idiots, and have a couple of stories, not all with happy endings. Brings back memories of Angie Reno and the “flying kickout.”
ppl that put boards on the wrong way should be killed to death
Has anyone ever mounted their board UNDER the roof rack when they have a roof box on?
Didn’t see this thread first time through. I see a guy going down 101 everyday with his board mounted “deck up”. Which creates more wind resistance and melts your wax. But to the original poster complaining about two things that get under his skin; (parking and people who can’t put a board on the “bars” correctly) I would add a third, people and countries that don’t drive on the “right” side of the road. England and it’s colonies are all ass backwards.
Yeah, not just us and the colonies… but yeah ![]()

First time I saw a board fly off; it was in about 1962 or so coming off Cuesta Grade into SLO. I was about 14. With my mom and sis headed for a weekend in Pismo. Don’t know how it escaped, but it went straight up like a rocket. Nose first and spinning as it climbed. It ran out of fuel as the “updraft” on the Grade petered out. Came down slower than it went up and crashed like a Spacex rocket tail first just off the road on an embankment. The guys in the jalopy saw it in their rear view on it’s way down and hit the brakes. That board with its 20 oz. Volan and wooden skeg had to have weighed 40#. Probably had two or three scratches in it. I’m sure they plugged any damage with canner’s parafin wax and proceeded to hit the heavies at Morro Rock. That board spinning upward is a YouTube video in my mind to this day. An awesome sight.
