Video is great… really well done. He lays up a beautiful agave stringer into a blank and (supposedly) binds the board together with Honey…
Now here’s the part I want to know (and I’m pretty sure I’ve seen Barry’s name on here, so hopefully I get the real answer): Did he really use Honey to bind the board or is Korduroy just making an assumption based on the “honey” flash?
Here’s why I have my doubts: The “Honey” seems to be kept in two bottles of Gorilla Glue… and then he sprays moisture on the “honey” to kick off the curing (which is what you would do with Gorilla Glue since it dries with moisture)
Also, on a side-note. I love how Barry seems to take a modern graphic design approach to laying out his logos and pinstripes. Very clean and geometrical. I love the wave pinline near the top and the inlay is gorgeous on the board. Very good job bro!
OK, if you say so, I couldn’t find it, but I believe your quote was there. Probably a quote by some kid who never built a surfboard in their life, and their job is to post videos and write some kind of “witty” comment to get people to click on them. I don’t believe Barry Snyder uses anything but tried and proven professional-grade ingredients in all his boards.
BTW, Barry is part of a dying breed, don’t think we’ll see too many up and coming shapers learning to hand-shape with a planer, glass it themselves, and do all the artwork, pin stripes, etc.
No huck you misunderstand… I don’t mean the comments in the vimeo page… Click the link I provided under the quote. They said he used honey on the actual korduroy.tv website in the description for that particular clip in their weekly “Web surfing” column
It’s not Honey… like I said before it’s definitely Gorilla Glue. Barry actually PM’d me and said it was funny, he didn’t know where they got that he used honey from
