bert burger

I returned to the website after an extended Xmas, New year break and find we have a new emerging info. expert verging on the legend status. One Mr. bert burger who seems to be taking over the “experts” hat from Herb,John&co. I want him to tell us who he really is cos. I’m from oz and ca’nt place him

I think Bert is great, but not the ring master yet. It’s going to be hard to dethrone Jim Phillips,Cleanlines,Kokua,Ambrose,Noodle, and the hundreds that have came before him.Let’s not forget Herb,he’s in his own,not that’s a bad thing, just different, maybe even, not of this world.

…I don’t know if I’m suppose to take that as a compliment or a insult? …Bert Burger is thumbs up here, welcome aboard…Herb

Sorry GL I meant to include all those guys but I had a bit of a memory lapse for a minute.

I didnt realize this was a competitive hierarchy! Ha ha! A look at the archives reveals the core phenomenon of Swaylocks: a great many people have questioned, discussed and debated from an extremely wide range of experiences. Many have come and gone. But the steady stream of knowledge shared in Swaylocks continues to prove there are often more ways than one to achieve a result. Sometimes by completely new means. And frequently the old is found to be best. Swaylocks is made up of those who represent a wide spectrum of surfing disciplines. I also suspect its supporters’ demographics are equally varied. And this is a place where it`s clear that no one knows everything.

The one who has contributed most, and deserves the title of “ringmaster”, is of course He Who Started It, for without him communication on these subjects would still be partially limited to annual surf mag “design issues” and decades-old copies of “Surfboard”… Number Two, so to speak, would be Swaylock’s Contributor, who isn’t nearly as smart as he or she thinks without all the rest of the inmates.

Bert Burger is his real name and goes under the label “Sunova” in Western Australia. Basically is a leader in Oz in HP balsa/epoxy boards. (Shit!!! - I hope I got that right Bert - please correct me if i’m wrong!!!) Has a good depth of team riders including one Justin Redman whom i’ve had the pleasure in seeing surf first hand and can throw a 9 footer around like a 6. From what I can tell from viewing his boards recently, they are all mainly flat bottoms with no concaves and standard thruster setups. Bert has his reasons for this on which he will be able to explain himself - but I commend him for sticking to a concept and going with it. FREDO
