i found this web address in the shapers section of the uk/s wavelenght magazine i think if they had gave some credit to Bert rather than make it sound like its their own development i could live with that ok ,but no mention or recognision is almost disrespectable, no it is disrespectable, pete
Nice find Pete
On reading their press release, it seems that they developed the technology!!
Would have been polite to namecheck Bert wouldn’t it!
They also state that they are the first in the UK to make boards this way, rather arrogant claim too.
Swaylurkers are go!!!
Pretty good board weights too under 4lb for a 6’ + board.
Hi Pete
I’ve met these kids, and to be honest their a bit arrogant to say the least. Last conversation I had with them they wanted to know how to make decals come out clear!
I shaped a classic fish for a mate who had them glass it, took about 4 months for my mate to get it back and believe it or not they started to make a range of fishes at the same time!
Don’t worry though they can’t produce a board anyway near the standard of one of berts rejects!
never claim some elses glory
cheers Joe
I don’t understand why you are jibing these boys, I’m all for anyone trying to help develop the UK scene … I bought a board from LCB (my 5th custom made board). I think their shaping is good, it was finished well and it rides good. I got it hand delivered by the guy that shaped it and he was well chatty and not at all arrogant… just over enthusiastic as he had me talking for over an hour.
first off, hello to all you brit-lockers. am glad to see that there are so many of you, as i am heading that way this spring to live. maybe we can all get together for our own fish fry…
back to the rip off thing… i don’t know these guys, but as someone once said, nothing is sacred. i agree that stealing/copying someone else’s idea without credit is lame - just look at all the double wing, quad fish out there that are copies of pavel’s hard work. all it takes is a nod, or acknowledgement. in fact, by giving credit where it is due, gives you more credit.
arrogance has no place in surfboard manufacturing, and if they are in fact that way, they won’t be in business for long. we should be grateful for whatever business we get in this age of popouts.
Certain amount of arrogance in their advertising blurb, namely claiming the first boards of the kind in the UK, sorry guys but Pete and myself beat you to it (Pete also had a Sunova long before), so having never met the boys, can’t comment on them personally but maybe they should be a bit more careful on their claims!!
Hi Nativeson
What part of the UK are you heading to? I am sure some lockers will be willing to show you around.
hey markv,
ah well, thats the dicey bit, but am heading for the southwest, with luck. looks like the place to be for surf in the uk. would love to meet up with the locker/lurkers when we reach.
thanks for the offer,
On reading your comments we thought it appropriate to explain the background behind the LCB E-series.
Over the past three years lcb have been working with epoxy sandwich construction within other board sports and applications out side the surfing industry. We carried out a large amount of research into technologies and techniques used within the motor sport, snowboard, windsurf, kiteboard and surfing industries . Burt Burger and Sunova surfboards have definitely been an influence in our boards with the use of balsa as opposed to high density foam as the outer sandwich core material.
We have developed a process of construction using a five stage vacuum schedule combined with custom weaved fabrics in order to maximise on the properties of the materials we are using to produce for example a 6’1" shortboard that weighs around 1.8kg but still maintains a great deal of strength.
We are always interested to talk about surfboard construction and will be down at Surf Jam on the beach in Bournemouth next month with our full range of boards if any of you uk guys can make it down.
Cheers
Mark and Pete
Hi Rob
Good to hear that your going to be over in the near future.
If your cruising past Bournemouth and need a surf, drop me a line as I’m right on Boscombe pier and got plenty of boards for use.
It would be great to get a UK fish fry going.
Hi Mark, where are you based (southampton way?)
Bumped into kitesurfer last week and had a look at his new fish, bloody nice board!
Cheers Joe
sweet thanks for that.
sorry if i jumped down your throat.
Edit: thank you
Sorry it was a genuine typo we do have a great deal of respect for burt and Sunova Surfboards
Hi Joe
Yes, I live in Totton at present, workshop is in Brockenhurst. Tend to surf Bournemouth pier more than Boscombe, I would be into a fish fry for sure in any location!!
Hey Joe
You still alive then ! haven’t seen you in ages - hope you and Heather are well !
Steve
