Bert, Tom, Rich, others: fin question

“” just give me a board thats light and strong , fast and loose , sensitive and positive , hold in, in power and still slide when i want it to , twitchy and skaty but still forgiving , go vert but still carve long lines…“”

Yea! I always want that one too!

I may give it another chance or two, but I’m not sure the occasional brilliant ride on it is worth the occasional frustrating one. I really don’t like frustrations from equipment. I don’t even want to be aware of the board when riding, it’s only along for the ride. This one’s kinda like a racehorse. Exceptional for fast hard verts, slashbacks and floaters, but the downside is just that slight delay off the bottom. As you said about your one board, its for overhead waves that are long fast and clean, but I have boards that are nearly as brilliant but are also steady and reliable, and this one is neither. Generally I like a board that feels good right from the beginning or it’s history. Sometimes if I’m not sure, I try it a few times trying to find the extra gear or trick. Sometimes I’ll have it redone, trying to find the solution by changing the volume a little bit here or there. Sometimes it works, sometimes not.

for me its 3 waves …

if im still undecided after 3 waves , and im not thinking yea this board has something …then if im feeling positive about it and nothing magic has happened within 10 waves , then its history …

if i make a new board and its not better than my old board , then i will know within 3 waves …

same if i try a new fin or what ever …

you know straight away if it feels right or not …

if im not constantly improving my formula , then i will have nothing to pass onto my customers…

yep thats it tubedog , you want to surf for pleasure and feel good not get frustrated …

thats why people will always pay more for guaranteed performance and not just for something that floats …

regards
