Bert's thin board

Quote:

yesterday i was riding my 6’ 4" in knee to chest high slow slop ,and working up mach speed ,floating long sections ,roundhouses off flat water onto a dribble foam section, bottom turning around slow coach longboards,ok you get the picture…

im 220 lb my board is 1 7/8 thick the deck is so concaved its only 1" thick in the centre ,plus ridiculous thin rails …it is wide tho, 17" tail 23" centre 14" nose …

Bert, please tell us more about this board. How is it finned, what’s the bottom like, rocker, foil. Sounds very interesting. Pictures?

Thanks,

Rob

i really have to learn some new computer tech, get a camera happening …

running those measurements would give some idea of the outline ,its looks like a wide shortboard ,not a mal look at all…flat bottom ,fairly flat tail rocker about 1 1/2" …

carries the flat into the nose a little with a late or fliped looking nose entry still has almost 6" of nose rocker but 1 1/2 of that is cosmetic…fins are set back a little coz of the tail being so wide my back foot is further back, running rich’s mental fins, quite clustered together so the board works well on the flat…has a tucked under hard edge to nose ,super hard edge in back half ,maximum release…i just ran my favourite shortboard out line and added 3" of width right down the middle to every point, then shortened it ,that way it still holds a nice line when you get it on the rail …

ive made the mistake of making overcurved out lines before ,then having a board that pulls to tight of an arc every time you put it on the rail…

…i just pulled a photo off the wall of my current favourite shorty in action ,the board the magic carpet is based on ,ill have a play and see if i can scan and post???
