Best all around bottom contour for a mini-longboard

Years ago, I thought up the idea of trying to capture the volume of my 9'2 performance longboard into an 8.0 while traveling through Central America and Hawaii. I didn't want to pay for the huge bag luggage fees and haul it around with me. So, I created my version of the Hobie Slugfish, which I call the super slug. I took my longboard template and made it shorter, thicker and flatter. The result was a pretty fun board which was too corky to noseride and swung wildly in hollow waves. I then changed the bottom contour to single concave to flat to deep double barrel concaves with steep vee in the back with tail kick, and the board now works unreal. I can noseride it decently, but it trims unreal and turns on a dime when I stomp on the back. I can get waves on a knee to waist high day and rip it on waves I would cruise with a noserider. I'm now considering changing to a single to double (vs. single to flat), and I am wondering how this changes overall performance on a board like this. Although threads here vary, the prevailing logic is concave throughout works best for good conditions, but flat works better for marginal conditions. I'm wondering what others are using for the mini (sub 9') lb's.
