Big quad fin placement?

Gents, I’m just learning about the various fin configuration placements so as I move forward with a 9’8" quad project I’ve become generally confused. There’s lots of info in the archives but I am still missing a couple pieces to this puzzle.

#'s are:

9’8" x N14.65 x W24.65 x T15.35 x Thick 3.75

Lead fins will be 1/4 toe in and flat inside foil, Trail fins will be smaller with 1/8 toe in and symetrically foiled.

Need it to be stable and will be ridden in very small to head high surf.

My question is:

How far from the tail and stringer/rail should the lead and trail fins be?

Cheers!

Surfdad

Put a 10 in center box. Set the rear at 5"

Put 2 sets of ProBox in at shapers marks 12, and 16. Toe is about 1/4 or 2 in off the nose…whichever is off the nose?. Get a set of Probox Fiberglass quad fins from Larry.

Set the fins at 1 1/4 off the rail

Now you can mess with all sorts of set ups.

Thanx Jay, just the info I was looking for. I like the idea of the center box. This will be the most versitile fin settup I’ve done to date.

Cheers!
