Hi
Looking at the 3rd pic you put in has got me a bit confused. Was it a new build or a restore and what materials did you use if it was a new build? The board looks sweet very tasteful and classical looking.
I bet the owner is going to have a sore back from all the soul arches he’ll be doing.
Keep well
WOW - that’s a first class restoration job, was that board orininally a pre Bonzer modle? I guessing the pic in your icon is the fin from this board, if not what fin set up did it have originally and did you stick with this or modify it?
Beauty!
sure looks perrrrty
Want to share a paragraph or two of what you did?
Drew
A new life for an aged classic. Looks like you did an outstanding job!! Good work.
Wow! What a contrast between what it used to look like and the finished product now. You did a great job. Is it going to be surfed or hung on the wall? If it was mine I’d kinda want to do both. Great work. Doug
Thanks for the positive feedback. I’m pretty happy with the way this one came out.
Swifty. This was a major restoration. The third photo is of the board after all the old pigment coats were sanded off. The two-inch balsa stringer was totally rotted the whole length or the board. Which meant cutting a slot in the glass to install a new stringer. The timber fin was barely hanging together.
Woody. This board is a 1961 model. The present owner is the 2nd to own it. A friend of his travelled to the US bought the board did some more travelling. On return to Australia sold it to him. It still has the original fin in it. See photos.
Doug. Originally the owner wanted to have the board restored so he could ride it again. Now he is not sure. This seems to be the case with allot or restorations. People see the board all shiny and new looking, they are reluctant to wax it up. If it were my board I’d be waxing it for sure. It looks like it would be a good rider.
Platty.
