Biofoam from Homeblown

Has anybody been able to get their hands on some of Homeblown US’s Biofoam? I’m wondering about the density… They say it’s “lighter and stronger” than their earlier foam formulations, but what is the density?

Is it heavier than other poly foams or lighter? Does the higher density make it harder to shape?

Hey,

I’m shaping the 6’4" fish blank now… I don’t have an exact weight, but the density seems far more uniform than Clark. The foam is much finer and it is much easier to sand. I’ll give you all an exact weight when I finish.

Does anyone have a performance review?’

What type of glass are you biofoam shapers using?

gracias!

The Homeblown biofoam I’ve seen seems similar in weight to normal. I have’nt shaped any yet but one board I saw which had used it and been glassed with hemp cloth did come out a bit heavy but I think that was mainly because of the cloth. It’s still early days for this technology and it looks as though it’s time has come and the new foams, cloth and resins will only get better.

My first Homeblown (MDI but not biofoam) came out lighter than the same sized board made with US Blanks foam. Same guy glasses it with the same schedule too. Shaped really nice as well. Less tearing than the US Blanks although the US wasn’t bad to begin with.
