well, i’m getting ready to start on this Bing replica within the next week or so (assuming that i can ever get through to Clark to put in a blank order. any recommendations on a blank and any rocker modifications? in the past, i’ve always taken the “work with what you’ve got” approach, but i really want this one to come out just like the old Bings. any expertise from someone more familiar with the clark catalog than i would be greatly appreciated.
here are the board dimensions (1 more time)…
The nose rocker of the Bing is exactly 5 1/4 inches to the center of the tip and 3 1/8 inches at the tip of the tail.
Rails are a consistent 50-50 narrow edge along the entire length.
Have you called Walker Foam?. They can work with you a hell of a lot better than Clark ever could.
I forget the gentelmen’s name who heads up the shop there but he was very helpful and took the time to talk to me about my custom order. I want to say Joe, but can’t remember. Seems that they are tuned in to the old school longboard shapers fairly well so they can set yu up real good.
actually, i’d prefer to use Walker foam for precisely that reason, but i’m in south florida. i’m worried about the blank being damaged in shipping, along with the cost of shipping it cross-country. on the other hand, if Walker wants to open up an east coast factory, have them call me…they’d certainly have a market down here.
Do you have a Clark catalog? Their drawings are pretty helpful in getting close to what you want. They also have blank info online. www.clarkfoam.com Doug
