Blaxell Reborn

So many questions!!!

Chips, haaar har

Balsa, I’ve always done it like that, I suppose it’s my anal approach to making everything into sections, do one section, go to the next one…maybe I’m too scared to try it differently.

Lavz, just saving a bit of time and weight, lapping one layer around the rails is easier than 2, can’t wait to see the footage at high speed, then I can say that I lammed the deck in 3 minutes!!!

Kokua, I acually spin one around North South leaving the other East West when I wrap the rails so that gives me plenty of room, They’re only like that when I’m working on the flat section (there I go again, sections) good idea though, I was only thinking of that the other day.

Doug, No I’m not a shorty really, I’m 5’ 9", about average. Need to lose a bit of 40yo+ paunch though, got the beer barrel-stick legs syndrome though if that’s any help… The paint was plain old acrylic enamel, warning test this on a piece of foam first, could dissolve your board…make you cry etc…

BTW the way I put the glitter on was to pinch an old salt shaker from the kitchen (Warning, ask your wife if that’s OK first, luckily I did) and half fill it with glitter, then sprinkle under the lam according to taste…

I put a thin coat of epoxy down first so it stack to that…

hicksy,

Ah, that’ll do it ;^D My 6’0" body has this terrible habit of turning fat into muscle or heat. I am treating this with beer :stuck_out_tongue:

Cool. Tried this on EPS? And fear not. I test everything. Not sure if it’s paranoia or experience, tho

Hicksy,

Its a fair Bet that “AB” is indeed Al Bean, as Chip suggests.

The Blaxell label was Tom Blaxell however…

Just so you guys don’t think I’m giving my name to a board shaped by someone else, eg HIXELL

I’ve done a ricey with all the former details of the board and put a rebuild date on it, I didn’t think it was right to ignore where it came from…

…good idea !

ben

Excellent Hix!

The board will love you for it!

definatly let us know how it rides cause it looks great!

Like the glitter.

Now that the deck is dry here are some more shots before I cut loose with the sander…

Red glitter on metallic gold paint…

The deck looks like gold suede

it’s coming along nicely eh Grant !!

no doubt Lavz Ant will be happy , too …he can see the lap lines !!

ben

Nice work

Hey hix/chip

I got started on editing all the footage of the hixell… its going to take a while, but once it’s done we’ll be able to have instructional video’s for everyone on swaylocks to watch, or laugh at…

I snapped some still frames from the footage…

The hixell b4 glassing :

Hick’s Epoxy kit and organised glassing table…

Chip with his everyday surfing board:

Some fins hicksy / chippy are working on…

Theres about 40 minutes of footage i need to cut down into smaller sections for everyone to be able to download them and watch them - should be up later this week.
