Board #001a... finally

Hey everyone,

This is actually the second board I shaped, the first that I glassed. The first board is a 9’ 5" that I hope to glass after the holidays. I originally had a list of all the people that I wanted to thank for helping me directly or (indirectly through the archives) with this project, but the list got a little long. I realized that I built a board in my garage, and did not win an academy award, so I scrapped the list and will just say that there is no other website like this. So, thanks to all who take the time to share their knowledge and experience without looking for anything is return, and thanks to all the newbies and novices who ask great questions that wind up in the archives for others to read.

The board is my attempt at a 6’ 1" fish. It definitely has its flaws, but overall I’m really happy with the results. I used a Marko blank and RR epoxy with a yellow tint. I have no other comparison, but both the blank and resin were very easy to work with.

As you can see in the pic, my pin-lines did not come out so great. I used a paint pen attached to a rail band tool, but it came out a little wavy and uneven. Also, I somehow got black specks on the rails and a smudge by the nose. I’ll have to research that a little more.

So again, thank you! Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!

Ken

Your board turned out great for a first try. My first was so bad that I would never think to put a picture up on the net. Have you had a chance to try it out yet? Give us a report and tell us how it rides!

#001 is going to tear up your local break.

Ray

Thanks for the compliments, guys. I hope to sneak out on Christmas after the kiddies and wife open their gifts.
