board decision - what do you think?

im looking to pick up another versatile longboard. 4 or 5 years ago i spent a lot of time on the walden magic models. since then i have ridden a variety of longboards, several custom shaped and several not, and everything in between. i have yet to find a board that works as well in all conditions as the walden model, and a board so well suited for noseriding and turning. i want one again.

the problem is, im sick of fiberglass, and im ready for steve walden, robert august, donald tak and the rest of them to all move on. they need to change their ways. id really like to get an epoxy board shaped by point blanks or proctor, which i have done already and love the materials, but i have yet to ride a board as incredible as the magic model and im not one to ask a shaper to copy a board. and it can’t really be done anyway.

so what do i do? get an epoxy board that will last longer but isnt exactly what i want, or go with the fiberglass walden?

Depending on where you are…

Talk to Fletch at Pointblanks. He can make all kinds of shapes besides the stock boards. I’ve got a custom 9’6"x 2 7/8" 2+1 from him that’s got the rocker line of his Noseglider, planshape of the Triditional - but stretched into a round pin & nose pulled in a bit - and extra glass for a little more glide & a little less flex. Beachbreaks with stiff offshores (think Stinson or Salmon or OB in November) have never been ridden with a more prefectly suited board (for me).

Stretch in Santa Cruz makes some really clean longboards, definitely on the ‘progressive’ side.

Forstall in Florida, never seen one of his boards, but have heard tons of good about them on here.
