Board Finished, What I learned

Hi Guys,

So I finally finished my 9’6" noserider and have riden it twice. It’s beeen a interesting journey both in design, consruction and performance. My goal was to create an all around board that would do well in any type of wave (up to 6 ft) and perform above avaerage on the nose. So here is the areas I wanted results.

Good all around board that had a focus on noseriding. Rides well in point, reef or beach break!

Very Strong construction with the ability to knee paddle without getting knee dents in the deck, and a contruction that would last

Create an single fin old school style longboard that paddle great catches waves easy and turns really well. all this using modern tecniques.

So I had it in the water twice and so far the board has exceeded my expectations. Plus if not for this site the board would not have come out as good as it did. So here are some pics and I would love to discuss my findings. I used a beveled nose rail around a tear drop concave and 50/50 rails the reast of the board. It’s 9’6" 19 nose 23.5" wide and 16" tail. 3 3/8 inch thich and kick in the tail. I used a US blanks 9’8" yater and omly changed the tail rocker and the nose slightly on the top. So let me know your thoughts both in and out of the water.

Sweet Looking Ride there Capt.

Well I’m no expert but that looks great. I’d be well pleased with that turn out. I like a nice glossy finish. How did you finish it?

Top shelf finish, great job

I finished it with your basic gloss coat using a Purdy brush. The polishing was 400 to 600 then 1500 (didnt have any 1000) I then used a foam pad with an automotive rubbing compount. Then I went to a foam pad with a light abrassive polish and then used a high grade polish with a 100% wool pad. That really brought out the shine! The brand I used was Jax Wax. Great stuff. It’s the same thing I used on a guitar I built. It’s a three step process.
