Here’s my niece Pixie. She’ll be turning 8 on March 19th. I’ve decided to make a board for her. She’s never surfed but seems to have a promising skate career. Her dad surfs mainly right hand point breaks like leo carillo, malibu, california street and rincon so that will probably be where she’s going to be groomed as a surfer. She’s 4’3". I know the board’s going to be pink with other girly designs. Any ideas as for board shape, outline and other dims? I can use PU or EPS. Keith? Benny? Anyone with kids? Thanks for all the help.
Yes! I’m liking it. I’m going to scale it down for her. we’ll see how it will evolve. I’ll get back to you guys with more info about Pixie so you guys can help out with thickness and other stuff. Thanks alot.
I’d go with a pointy (but not too sharp) nose so if she meets whitewater while paddling out, the board isn’t lifted right up into her nose. Basically a Nugget/pumpkin seed shape, IMO, is the best kid’s learning shape. Single fin & put in a Pro-tek. Size? Around 6’ so she can get some waves, but only 18-19" wide. Low rocker but give her some lift in the nose.
At least, that’s all what’s in the works for one of my sons
if you look in the resources, #957 I posted a 6 foot mini-longboard that I made for my daughters a couple years ago, it worked out very well for them at about that age/size. Dims: 6’ x 16" x 18.5" x 14" x 2.5"
