... board/s for short period windswell ......

well, I rode this setup in the “bushy” today ,

in … as the title suggests .

I preferred the “bushy” to a longer board today.

It was interesting to see ‘sandgroper’ [Ian] riding the 7’er singly in the same conditions .

The "see a wave , a second to turn , paddle , takeoff , and turn " conditions seemed better suited to my li’l 5’8 “bushy” , somehow.

Glad I changed my mind , when I first picked up the 6’4 single keel Bob Cooper this morning.

Although the conditions were pus , I managed to get three rideable righthanders , and the “bushy” went really really fast [but sorry , roy …no ‘gps speed readings’ available …“fnar , fnar” , as our [p]resident wag fatty bas-lardy arse would type !]

so , when it is ribcage-high , onshore, short interval windswell, what if anything do YOU guys ride ? [… in other words , WHAT is your choice of board for those conditions ? ]

cheers !

quivers can be fun , if used … the other board of mine I enjoy in these kind of conditions is my 5’7 vee bottomed stubbie single fin .

I’m 6’3, 210lbs,I ride a 7’0"x 21"x3" rocket fish, Thruster set up. Conditions here (Georgia Straight)are often 50+ knots onshore, waves are sometimes well overhead @ 6 seconds.

you need to try a 140cm by 38cm board and a kite… or use your bushie with a kite. you realy are missing out on what perth has to offer over summer if you dont get into wind sports, 2nd hand kites are real cheap learning curve is steep but quick. head down to scarbs on any given afternoon and see what the local boys are doing on strapless surfboards with kites.

I reakon it was 15-20knots x-on at 5.30 this morning. see what the morning brings

yep , you coming for a paddle tomorrow ?? **

It was 5-10 knots sou-soueast at 7, when we hit it , then around 15 knots westerly at 9am, when we left . There were still some random rideable waves “down there” [you know where ] , when you sit out there for an hour or two . Wanna come down ? I’m hanging out to see the 12’er mate , and if tomorrow is [?possibly?] a bit more easterly , it could be a good day for it . There were some lefts there for you today . [Ask Pascal [‘popeye’] about the surf he had there yesterday , on his 9’ mal .]

I tried a mate’s kite there , twice , got lifted off the beach , and handed it back to the owner . Too bloody dangerous and unpredictable for MY frame , I reckon ! [the owner was MUCH bigger than me] . And , the guys down there don’t give a s*** about surfers , unfortunately . I , and a couple of mates , have been almost run over by them so many times now that I only surf mornings now . They need to regulate it a bit more , or some swimmer or surfer is going to get seriously hurt soon . Especially with the summer crowds .

Anyway , Sunday is looking the goods for a surf . Will you be staying in perth this weekend ? Could be a good day for me to get watershots of you on the 12’er , eh ? since I missed its launching before

cheers
