Bob Mctavish on Displacement Hulls

**yes well the bing board is not where i am coming from  my mistake? **

but there is no denial the platt board leads to dble enders  and s decks and then teds white kites and on to the stubby. all at one point would be refered as hulls

kevin is no longer with us and he realy does deserve some reconigtion in this whole period but the ever hungry s m need mountains to build mole hills say no more

i think the liddle board was 7’ 10   the platt board is 7’ 6’’   nse tail w/p very different . but yet look at them and do not get me wrong i am not knocking g l at all as a matter of fact it is good to see

It has been my experience that Greg’s boards need to be surfed with power from the bottom half of your body. You can’t “skate” them. They need to be BURIED using strong leg pressure. In the clip Gamboa is trying to climb the face with his upperbody flopping around like a bird. You lean them over and PUSH and they WILL respond. Quickly.

Fin Placement is critical on these boards. Many years ago I  asked Jimmy about getting them dialed in and he told me " I just shove the fin all the way to the front of the box"…that may account somewhat for the strained cut backs.

Saw him down in Mex. on a big Southern Hemi swell maybe 5 or 6 years ago…He was going  for a second go out after having numerous Tecates. He paddled out in a place that no body was getting out…somehow punched through a big set…and proceeded to get 3 or 4 great waves in a short period…way outsurfed Rob Machado who was out at the time. I think it was a Pavel version of a Liddle he was riding…Jimmy did not like the Liddle that Greg made him…so he worked with Pavel for what he wanted and at least on that day he was flying.
