Bogus Mayhem

OK, this is a shameless bid to get some more points.  I understand the whole points thing, no complaint here, just doing what I need to do to get my 15!

I didn’t make this board - I got it used for next to nothing.  I think its a cheap copy, pretending to be a “Mayhem”, but look at the lam closely - its fake!  It doesn’t really say anything, LOL.

Anyway, I did all the ding repairs top and bottom, then I wanted a deck patch to make it a little stronger, so I took a bunch of old scraps from past projects, and mixed up little cups of colored resin.  I just cut the patches random and overlaid them, using different colors.  When the resin dried, I sanded all the overlaps smooth, and hot coated and final coated.  Sanded finish.

The board was glassed with poly, but I used epoxy resin, no problemos.  I just cleaned it up real good first, then sanded everything before the epoxy.  I put a final coat of epoxy over everything once all the dings were done.  Time will tell if there’s any bonding issues, but its not something I’m worried about.

The board looks like a fun shape, haven’t had it out yet now that I got all the repairs finished.

I think you are mistaken on the lam.  It says “Mexican” not “Mayhem”.

I still spotted you a point so you can get to your 15 ASAP

it is neither a fake nor a Mayhem, it was shaped by Bill Minard, long time San Diego shaper for G&S, Rusty, Encinitas and others

It’s a Mehran, not a “Mexican”.  Oddly, stokednboard says that the Mehran label was discontinued around 1992. But, the last two numbers written by Minard are “99”, which would lead one to believe the board was built in 1999. Maybe they had some old lams lying around and just used them up, randomly?
