I have 3 Malcolm Campbell Bonzers sitting in the room with me. You looking for five fin measurments or three? I don’t have any of the old 3 fins around…
i’m interested in measurements for the 5 fin boards, specifically the twinzer/keel side fins.
i’m interested in measurements for the 5 fin boards, specifically the > twinzer/keel side fins. OK. In a room with not so hot light and me without glasses& Back set of fins: 11" from tail Base of fin 5 ½" Depth of fin 2 3/4" Front set of fins 15" from tail 4 3/4" base 2 1/8" height
OK. How long are the bozer fins and height I believe the back is bigger then the front and your smallest board size size just for reference . I want to put mine on a six five ok thanks alot. PS I tried to get measurements off a board in the patagonia shop but the dude was on me the minute I took the board off the racks

PS I > tried to get measurements off a board in the patagonia shop but the dude > was on me the minute I took the board off the racks I gave you the dimensions for the base and height of the two sets of side fins above. The rear set is larger. The center fin is in a Fins Unlimited fin box set 4 ¾ inches from the tail. Most of my boards have the fin placed at 6 ½ to 6 5/8 inches from the tail. I would suggest a box. Placement can make a huge difference on these boards. I seem to prefer mine set further up than most people. I use a Malcolm Campbell design 6 inch center fin. He also has a 6.5 and a 7 inch fin but 98 percent of the boards use the 6 incher. They are produced by Tru Aimes fins in Santa Barbara. Go to www.bonzer5.com and hit the vehicles section and then check the pictures. Website isnt done, but they are some good visuals on the vehicles section.

I’m not real sure on how to measure that for you…
Dimensions were off of a 6’6">>> You are aware that a Bonzer has those side fins set in with a pretty > dramatic cant/lean? I’m not real sure on how to measure that for you… Mine measure 18 degrees of cant. Typical cant for a thruster is between 5-7 degrees. So, you will have a tough time getting 18 degrees from an FCS plug.

tom, gws, thanks a bunch. might hold out for a red x bonzer setup.

Tom, I posted on the Bonzer thread on Salt Water Dreams hoping you would see it. When Malcolm gets back from Hawaii I’m ordering a new board. Will the Red X system be ready? I don’t know how much longer I can wait(I’m very excited).

I don’t know how much longer I can wait(I’m > very excited). I hope so. But, it is very difficult to pin down exactly when. Today I am awaiting a service man from the factory that made our CNC mill. It looks like we are going to need to replace one one the major components. Only say $10,000.00 and several lost days of productivity. I am still awaiting geometry information from Casey to figure out what we can do to produce foils that will work. And we have other customers asking to make new parts. We are definitely attempting to make it a priority. But, constraints of cash flow only allow us so much time to invest in our own molds. We’re talking about $30,000.00-$40,000.00 in custom tooling to make them.

I don’t know how much longer I can wait(I’m > very excited). Tri Fins, Get in line. Me first! LOL! Hey just out of curiosity, do you have a preferred measurement for placement of your center fin? Whenever I move my fins around and finally find the spot where the board lights up I take a permanent marker and put a mark in the white pigment around the fin box. I was going over my boards last night, 6 5/8" with the 6"fin every time. Go Tom!
Tom, hear that sucking sound? That’s the sound of cash getting sucked into the surfboard drain. heh heh. GWS, Malcolm sez the front 1/4 of the center fin should just overlap the back of the side fins. He told me to use a 7" fin in all my pintails, with 6" in the swallow tails. The first day I rode my eggy Bonzer I had a 6" fin and I only liked it okay. I put in the 7" fin the next time and the thing became magic. Krazy…

First I’ll ask my glasser if he can do that drastic of a plug angle. I did notice on the eaton twinzer bonzer that his bonzer fins had alot of flex in them made out of some type of plastic.

It works well, but it just didn’t light up for me. MC told me he had a number of people riding boards like that who went and switched out their 6 inchers for the 7 and said the boards turned on for them. He gave me a 7 and I put it in the box and looked at it and just couldn’t accept it. LOL! it looked fucking HUGE to me. I stuck it under the seat of my truck figuring I would wait till it was too big for the board and then plug it in. I have a 7’6" semi with a very small squash tail that I don’t like all that much. Beautiful board, (your shop glassed it) but I keep contemplating selling it. Now I’m wondering about putting that 7 inch fin in it? Or maybe the 6.5"?
Hey, show us pics of all this boards!!! I’ll like to see it, and it’ll help me to shape my next board, i’m gonna try a bonzer… Thanks for all this information gws. Coque A.
