Is there a minimal tail width for a 3 fin bonzer set up? Or a ideal width for optimal performance? I’m thinking of a narrow design for larger surf but do not want to be too narrow and effect performance. I’m thinking. 14 " or so, any info is appreciated .thanx
14" was pretty “normal”
nice !
… were they grey-tinted wooden runners , bazza ?
cheers !
ben
WOW , sweet board ! thank you for your reply and photos
Ben, no that’s resin.
I mixed one bucket of Volan colored green tint.
Glassed board,
layered green tint and black.
Multiple layers.
I ride a 6’9" Bonzer 5 egg modeled on a Wayne Lynch template - its pretty much the classic Bonzer egg the brothers make. It rides like a dream despite the fact that it is pretty flat for my linking and the tail is a little wider than I like. These aspects make it a ‘different’ board with its own thing going for it as opposed to a ‘wrong’ board - this board would probably be ‘wrong’ (for me if it was a standard thruster - not enough rocker and tail too wide:
I think you are on the money at 14"
Campbell Brothers: #4740 - roundpin – Bonzer 5 double-concave 5/16” - 6 1/2” center fin (all the way back in the box)
size: 6’9" x 3"
template: 15 1/2" x 20 5/8" x 14"
rocker: 4 1/2" — 2 1/4"
Ace Knows his 3 fin Bonzers. Just saw a Craigs list Eaton Bonzer with The name Ace on the Stringer. I’m going to ask for a Big Discount because Mike didn’t shape the Board just some hack added Ace. ( Kidding )
