Techtronic Industries owns a number of brands. Chairman of company is a German guy living in Hong Kong. Much as I dislike the idea of some of my favorite brands (like Milwaukee) being made outside of the US, it’s hard to argue with Techtronic’s financial results.
The Bosch 1594 parts are made in Malaysia, but packaging and some assembly for the majority of their products is done regionally. This is due to the language printing on the product/packaging and more often for motor voltages of different countries and the electrical regulations each country has. Calexico is actually in the US (Imperial County, San Diego), but the factories are across the border in Mexicali. Management and many of the workers live in Calexico. Other tool companies have recently built facilities in Mexicali including Dremel.
I also did agree with Ross on the whole NAFTA thing which has since created lots of problems on many levels. He warned us, but as usual corporate greed (both foreign and US) always wins.
Anyone have input on the noise (when cutting) compared to the Hitachi
Much, much, quieter.
And cleaner cuts.
Still loving mine!

Petec,
Do you just sell the modified bosch planers or do I need to buy a stock Bosch and send it to you to do the mods?
thanks,
Owen
Hi Owen, It’s offered as: (1) Kit only with online instructions, (2) Kit installed - you furnish Bosch, (3) Kit installed - we furnish Bosch. There will special holiday pricing on the kits in a couple of weeks. Thanks, Pete
Aloha Pete,
I have a Bosch, with a single blade barrel. Can it be updated with the newer two blade barrel?
Thanks John,
These shots were done near the year 2002…my Clark/Mods planers got even more mods later on,including an 02 version(not pictured) w/ a updated carbide. 6 bladed, helical spiral barrel(made from a vert. mill blade),slinky hose,re-wired motors, etc.
Hi Bill, Depends on the model and I’d have to remove the old one and compare. If you’re coming up this way, drop it off I check it out. - Pete
