Bottom Feeders ,Bad hair, BUCKELED BOARDS and Bad Ass Cars

Don't get me started on car pics.....

Here's the guys I'm following now, on the grid at Sebring last March:

S’Ray, now you know how to break! Are you hiring?

.

For our UK friends, bonus points for who can identify this extremely rare model.

xj13 ??

Another view....

Congrats, knowaloha. XJ-13 it is. I thought that would take longer. Must be smart people on sways.

The Jag was made for Le Mans, but never raced.

knowaloha's off the hook....

Back to America, how many liters displacement in this extremely dangerous Corvette?

Well, to each his own, or whatever.  After you’ve seen a couple hundred Ferrari’s drive by on one of the many car show deals they have around here, it just looks like the ride at Disneyland.  I’d give a left nut for an old Sting Ray though.  Or, the Mustang McQueen drove in Bullet.  Fuck, that was hot.  I’d settle for a black 58 Chevy Apache, too.  There’s just something that is just kind of feminine about European sport cars. I mean no offense.  I like good old gas guzzling American muscle cars that have BALLS.  Gives me a boner almost.  Mike

I think that would be 7.1 MD

edit - although it could be 6.2 SC from the ZR-1

Soooo...back in the 80's they were running GTP cars....Loved the Jags....The 2nd year at Del Mar was the last year. My room mate got VIP tickets from a tire company. We had food and all the beer you wanted...awesome grandstand seats!

Sorry..... no photos to prove it!!!!

I went to the fabric store with my wife....She's a good woman...I saw something that caught my eye...$6.99 a yard...I'll never compalin about the cost of fiberglass cloth....Next time I'll go to the thrift store.....

Keep it going........

80's IMSA GTP:

I used to have a BMW 2002 that I put a new engine, suspension, and all the stuff you need to do SCCA racing, except the roll cage. It was stiff as hell, but once you get to about 90 mph it really hugged the road and felt great.

It was my daily driver, and I drove 95-100 mph everyday from Ewa to the Ala Moana area where I worked and back at night. I worked the night shift so there wasn’t much traffic back in the late 80’s. I always enjoyed driving fast, kinda thought about it like I was riding a
wave, just flying along. I’d use all 4 lanes of the freeway and straighten out the curves. I ended up with so many traffic citations that the judge said he would take my license away the next time I got caught.

Luckily I met my wife and moved into town about then. Unfortunately, she became my main interest in life and my cars just became things to get from here to there. I used to drive out to see my folks and “clean the engine” by going 100 mph. That would scare the sh t out of her and she eventually broke the strap that hangs down the B-pillar to get into the back seat. I took her brother and her out one day and he got so scared he brother driver’s side strap sitting behind us. I had these 2 straps on either side of my car hanging down.

I also have a 1959 Austin Healy 100/6. My wife wanted me to sell it, but I ended up giving to my dad, and he had it restored. It sits under all of my brother’s surfboard bagging equipment right now, so it hasn’t seen the road for a while.

One day I was driving the Healy home at 95 mph and it back fired. A big cloud of dust came blowing through the air vents right into my face and I couldn’t see anything. Almost lost it that day.

I hope to get the Healy out from under all our sh t and drive it, but I know my wife will just start getting in may case to sell it again. Kinda hard to sell since I had it before I met her and it was something my dad really loved. Surfing and cars were everything to me before I met my wife. Funny what love will do.

I also have a buckled board. It’s a 10’ EPS/epoxy I made for my daughter and I to tandem. I was planning on stripping it and reglassing it with Carbon fiber to give it more strength.

As far as hair goes. I don’t care about bad hair. I once had a girl at the hair salon tell me that “the prince valiant look is out”. I cut my hair myself with a flowbee, and it saves me a lot of money.

The 2002 started many a love affair with sports sedans.

Here's the hood badge on the Corvette. That's 500 cu inches. Parked next to the factory team garage at Sebring.

1972 Detomaso Pantera.............I had a Black 1974 Pantera with red pinstripes all over it.     Kept it for nine years, before selling it to buy real estate.   Good economic move, bad emotional move.    I do miss that car.
