Bottom Feeders ,Bad hair, BUCKELED BOARDS and Bad Ass Cars

Hey Kokua, isn’t a cool feeling when you catch a little air. I knew a few dips in the road that have a combination of dip and turn. If you hit it just right you can get 4 tires in the air then when it catches you add that twist of being in the middle of a turn.

I once made the mistake of going down Alencaster street a little too fast with my kids and they just loved when you come off each hill and get that airborne feeling. They thought it was like a carnival ride, and wanted me to do it all the time, but I knew my minivan was taking a beating.

I think some dads like cars and driving fast. Mine did, but as we got a bit older he backed off. I think he wanted us to see a more conservative side, but inside I knew he liked seeing us growing up and doing all the crazy things boys do. Just don’t get hurt.

I have to admit that the new cars can run circles around the old 70’s models, but those old cars have a styling that I love. BMWs I will always love, but I think I’d get a porsche 356 speedster if I could.

Rooster:

My wife is French and we make a point to teach our daughter about French culture in our studies with here we came across this video and this was the same music that played in the Clubs in PARIS when I lived there. The goofy style kind of fit the Bad hair. My daugther found it really funny and years latter so do I. Funny because at the time I thought it was cool?

Everyday: I think Huie has wore off on me?

This M3 GTR won class at 24 hr of Nurburgring - note the ''dream team'' driver line-up. The GTR in general won everything in sight on several continents, causing so many complaints from competitors that it was banned...

For Mike Daniel…

Check out the tiewrap and spray can holders behind Marco. The cabinet ain’t bad either.

Murderers row…wasn’t Boris a factory Porsche guy years ago?

Not sure on Said/Porsche, but it wouldn't surprise me. The Porsche Junior Team has launched a lot of careers.

I may have to see if Eric can make us some aramid pencil holders for the shaping rooms, carbon is just so overused....

Check the aero, and composite, work on the Peugot. Wind tunnel and CFD hours.

Are we done with badass cars?

I don't think so...

For the Porsche fans, something you don't see everyday:

Do you have any more photos of the IMSA GTP Cars.......????????

I went to the last NASCAR race at Riverside....Back in the day.......

All my photos from back in the day are transparencies (slides) that I don't have digitized yet. Someday....

I liked the GTP cars when they were loosely production-based, late 70s-early 80s. My favorite was the ''shoebox shotgun'' BMW 320T, with it's obscene bodywork featuring a front splitter extending about 2 feet from where the stock bodywork would end. The 1.5 liter turbo was already pushing 700+ horsepower, the same engine ended up in F1 a few years later with well over 1000 hp. Thus was born the legendary story about Nelson Piquet asking the BMW engineers "How much power do I have?'', and the engineers replying '' We don't know, the dyno only reads to 1400''

I get pics of these old racers at vintage events, there's a great one at Sebring every December. And every year at 24 hr of Daytona they have display cars. Here's one of those I can put up quickly, I'll dig for more later. From 1986, as driven by AJ Foyt.

Here's one - photo credit to my son, Colie Daniel.

66 was a good year for Chevelles. My cousin had a red 70 396 that was pretty tweaked. Had to fight to keep it straight if you banged the shifts in the M-22 ''rockcrusher'' 4-speed. He owns a big auto parts and supply business now and has a few nice rides. His favorite is still a 2002 tii that he's had since the late 70s.

More GTP, from the era of ''who can spend the most money''. Nobody did it better than Porsche.

I owned a 1966 Chevelle SS 396 , built big block,4 speed,positraction...yes...you can get rubber in all four gears........

Then it was a 1969 MGB convertible that My brother and I restored.....fun car....

If  I win the Loto...Ha  ha ...Some day I would like to own another classic.....

Right on!  I'm glad the board is getting a second life.  Surf4fins, you will like the way it rides.  Let me know if you want the original FCS side fins for it.  Send me your address, and I'll mail them to you.  Or, maybe we can meet sometime this weekend at Sacred Craft.

Went to Sebring yesterday for a ''Legends of Motorsport'' event. Lotsa pictures. Here's one to start; a street version of the 1985 GTP Corvettes. A la sways, here's the ''build thread'' from the guy's website: http://retroclassicrides.com/projects.htm

edit- couldn't ''fit'' my photo, file wouldn't re-size properly. I'll try some other pics....

try another pic...

love the grand sport paint job.

MD I did not realize what a nice car you drive. Pretty cool wheels!

Hahahaha, surfding. My dd is a GMC, that 'Vette wouldn't hold many pieces of foam... Read back a bit and you'll see I'm a lifer BMW guy for performance cars.

Speaking of which, we did win the Manufacturer's Championship in the ALMS series for 2010. Over the Corvettes, Ferraris, Jaguars, and Porsches. Here's ''Joy'' on the grid last March, opening race of season.

Back to pics from yesterday,
