hey there
the only time i made them,
i put them up side down on thin piece of wood, say 6 mm, 1/4"
drew outline of finbox
bore hole in middle
use electrical jigsaw with fine saw
saw out form close tolerance to your line, leave the line on the wood!!
possibly sand off last remnants manually
now you have the jig,
if the wood is 6mm, you can put it on a thick piece of wood or foam,
use a router that has a ball bearing, and make a second jig in the thicker foam or wood
you jig?
If using a top bearing bit…
Place the fin box centered on the material that will be you jig (I used 3/4" mel).
Press two longer boards against it’s two long sides and clamp at the ends.
Cut two pieces to fit at the box ends (don’t have to be perfect) and attach w/ dbl sided tape.
Remove fin box and route.
