BROKEN GLASS AROUND DAMAGED FCS PLUG

Hi to everyone,

As you can see on the photo the plug was ripped out and the glass is broken aroune the plug hole.

1.       Do I have to cut lose all the damage glass, reach healthy glass / foam lamination, and laminate again?   Or

2.       Try to glue back the damaged glass install the plug and laminate all over?

If number 1 solution, in which stage of the repair should I install the plug?

If number 2 solution, is there a way to level the damaged glass back to its original level?

Thank you

Looks to me like all 3 plugs are compromised.

I’d think about neatly cutting the whole area out (first sand off the hotcoat in the affected area)

replace with matching foam insert

put in 1 and a half Fusion boxes

Lam hotcoat sand

No easy fix. I think Bud’s method is best option. Keep in mind that the plug, if it was done right to begin with, is attached to the deck glass with an H pattern of resin, and possibly filler. Square out a rectangle of material and remove it all, sand the area around the edges down to the weave, replace the rectangle with a tightly fitting foam insert, gluing it in with lam resin to the deck skin, glass over the whole area, fair out the edges, tape off, hotocat, install new plugs per manufacturer’s specifications.

thank you for your help. i will try to do it your way.

thanks a lot!
