Build Project-Rocket Style

I shaped this little “Rocket” (Don’t know what to call it yet) yesterday from A Blank I cut from 28kg/m3 Eps. I put a 1.5 mm 3 ply stringer in it (real thin).

5’ 5’’ x 18 5/8’’ x 2 1/16’’ flat deck into drop performance rail. Tail… Don’t know what you would call them but I have seen a few from Lost and the look cool, ha ha.

,oh, yeah it has an 70’s - 80’s beak nose on it to keep the volume up front.

5 fin…

Glassing this one at home too (which I love doing).

Extra Low nose entry into standard shortboard tail rocker, smooth hip.

Single concave…Looks fun to me, feel like a gromet again.

…Might glass it tonight.

Can someone tell me why sometimes your photos show up on the page and other times they show up in link form?

I never had a problem before???

What was the reason for the EPS? Wont you have to seal that stuff? I’m digging the round tails and quads at the moment, I guess those little edges on the tail keep the outline a little straighter on such a small board?

Personaly, I like EPS foam with stringers, great flex weight. And Epoxy is great for performance boards (All boards actually).

Epoxy has great long life performance as does Eps, Thats what I reckon anyway! unless for one reason or another it starts to take on water, then its all down hill from there… unless fixed asap.

I like the feeling of 6oz bottom and 6oz deck which “for me” is perfect with Eps stringered blanks.

Good combo for a light weight surfer…and I enjoy making the blanks and choosing my stringers, feels good doing it all your self.

No need to seal the Eps blank, just more care is needed when glassing to avoid pin holes etc.

So no one knows Re photo up loads on sways?

I just always upload to tinypic.com and then use their URL.  It seems to be the easiest way to display pics here.

Yeah cool I have put up lots of pic in the past with no problem… Now its done a link thing, Looks better if the photos just pop up with the text.

I’ll try that tinypic.com, Thanks

…Off to get dusty now

Looking great as usual Yorky keep those pics coming. really dig your work and the fact that you freakin RIP on the HPSBs you make - I always keep an eye out for your posts

Hey Yorky.

Really nice board!      It would make a perfect medium to high wind kite-surfboard for a person around 175# to 230# although you’d need to glass it 3x 3.3oz deck and bottom, with carbon foot patches, and foot strap inserts…

I like the tail,.Very  Will Jobson, twinzer like, maybe you should make this one a twinzer…

I’m working on 2 @ 5’-6" kite twinzers ,one of which has  e-wings… I  sent you a PM a while back with questions concerning the e-wings you put on your HP Bonzer build…Did you get my  PM  ?

Have you tried a twinzer fin set up???    If I get it right,   I’ll build lots of kite- twinzers…   .For some reason , I’m addicted to them…")

Test.

Gunther and I

I got the photo thing going on again. But a bigger size then in the past, which is a good thing, what did I have to do? use the “Input format” button… Thanks… think!..
Today I put my FCS foam reinforcements in as in photo.

Now out to put some glass on it . Wouldn’t have a clue how to do tints but here goes.

looks like a shitload of fun, dunno what the Lost crew are calling those tails but maybe Vampire tail would suit....I been doin plenty of small wave sleds of late too, plenty diff designs but all similar theory...really enjoying riding them......the fins on that one are for a thruster-quad option hey ? Very fun planshape, the nose looks sweet.....I might post a few pics of a couple of my recent little numbers......

Last night I did a tint insert in 4oz and this morning glassed over ir with a 4 oz… Reverse glass job-top first.

…Had problems with my camera??? Things arn’t made to last these days. sorry about the shit pic

Glass 6oz bottom this avo, I hope!

Tried a different camera…The pink decals look red in this one.

Sweet looking Board! looks like it will be a fun ride!

my little rocket has been hanging around half glassed, in the house, out side for a bit, to the factory, in the van…Finally got around to putting a bottom on it.

6oz with a large 4oz diamond patch over the 5 fin area.
