Here’s what happened:I have a customer that insisted on trying Red-X in the longboard I’m building him.My first thought was to take it to outproduction (Basham’s)to have the boxes installed. Then I looked over at my Roto-Zip tool and BANG it hit me like a diamond bullet! I quickly ,but accurately made a 2 stage guide to use with my zip tool(crude, but effective).Test fired it a half dozen times, then cut the board this morning. It works!!!It may not(at this point be as accurate as Tom’s routers, but with a little re-working of the guides into jigs,it may be the answer that I have been looking for. The install was a little tricky ,and yes a set of guide tools would be a nice touch. When all is sanded out I’ll know what I will have to change,or keep. This was no harder to do than installing ,fcs or Ofish’l for the first time. Tom @ Daum when I am finished(soon)I’ll give you a look at it,and see if it interests you.OH YES!!GUIDES would have helped.Herb.
Say, Herb…don’t know if you caught my post about a month ago, but the rotozip now has several accessory tips…one of which is a PLUNGE ROUTER!!! You hooked up with one of these, Brah?! T.

I’ve seen some of the accessories,I need to find out if they adapt to the cordless model. Most of the time I run a router bit or saw drill bit in it anyway, and I made a special base for it,to replace my routers in the cut-out phase of shaping.Herb.

Hey Herb, Could you enlighten me to using my roto-zip for templating? I can’t find a bit long enough. Special base? Many thanks for all your contributions. OJ

OJ Harbor Freight Tools, and HomeDepot carry a saw drill bit for about 5 or 6 dollars ( 3-1/2" long) or you can look around for a double flutted 1/4" x 3-1/2" router bit,I think I got mine at Sears? They work perfectly in the zippy!Herb.
