Building Boards this weekend!

I have 4 fresh shaped blanks waiting to be glassed. I just got a compressor and spray gun - I am armed and dangerous with all the great tips I have been reading in the archives on this site. Did some test painting last night and I am ready to rock and roll! Supposed to be high in the 70’s, dry and sunny all weekend. Stoked!

Go Richard What a great way to spend a weekend, the art side of surfboards is the next best thing to shaping, dont forget to show us your pic’s KR

Richard, Howsitgoin?? Come on out of there and tell us what you did! Richard?.. Hope your having fun. I had two good days glassing thanks to Kokua and a few other tips. Weather is to turn fowl here tomorrow evening with a strong cold front moving by. Should be some good surf tomorrow afternoon if it comes soon enough and doesn’t blow too hard. I will get an opportunity to hot coat with cooler temps this week. Mike

It went well - glassed 3 of them and cut fin/leash plugs. 1 had glass-ons (messy!) and it still needs its bottom hot coat. Still have to install the plugs and sand. the first airbrushing went well - one board is color on the whole bottom taped off 1/2’’ from the rail - a blue sky with clouds and the other is bright pink taped off sections with brown (my friend loves pink and brown…it looks cool) painted over stencils and fin rope so it has that misty flame look to it. I am going to pinline the boarders of the paint on the hotcoat so there will be some depth definition. i did an acid splash green/yellow on the bottom of one and one i just glassed clear. I will get some pics when i finish … next week maybe? It was fun but exhausting weekend! Need some good surf…its no good to make new boards and not surf - ha!
