Bustin’ Down the Door – A Board

During the Q&A after the Bustin; Down the Door premiere in Honolulu, I asked Mark Richards about his quiver of magenta and yellow lightning bolt boards shaped by Reno. MR said that he no longer owns any of them. I told him that my friend has one. MR said that they are worth a lot of money.

About five years ago, I saw a old lightning bolt all dinged up, water stained and covered with house paint over spray. I saw written on the blank, “by Reno for MR”. I told Noe that this is a special board and that I would fix the dings and polish it for her. I think that this 7’9” might be the board that MR is riding on the cover of Surfer when he won the Smirnoff. After I fixed it, she placed it in a board bag and forgot about. I told her about the movie and said I saw several magenta yellow bolts in the flick. She brought the board out and she took a renewed interest in the board again especially after she saw the movie too. Here are a few picks of Noe’s board.

nice find!

i took my nephew to see that movie last weekend. it gave him renewed stoke for his “new” 70’s Nomad single fin after seeing all those guys surfing pipeline on similar shaped boards.

No problem. This board was really neglected before I got to it. Even after I fixed it, Noe still still manage to a get a ding near the nose. Noe, wanted to ride again and I told her to forget about it. MR wanted her to email him pictures of the board. We are trying to get him to sign it on his next trip to Hawaii.
