It has been 32 years ago today that you passed away, and not a single day goes by without my loving memories of you! I love you Big Brother !!!

Your memorial service was so beautiful and so many of your friends that it warms my heart that you are loved so much!!

Aloha Big Bro and I am Always Butch’s Sis

Butch, an Archetype.....RIP. Aloha.

Sometimes they break the mold after someone is made - Butch broke his own, charging out.

An indomitable spirit - still inspiring - the ripples are still travelling out.

E Butchsis, I never knew Butch personally but I was on the sidelines when he first came to visit Hawaii; the Hawaiian bros loved Butch; he could surf, drink and fight and these were well respected abilities amongst the heavyweights he was hanging with; white on the outside but brown on the inside, he was one of them and they adopted him; My good friend Sean Ross worked lifeguard with him at Pipeline for many years and told me some funny stories about their time shared in the tower; and of course the many essays on his life at Windansea were a treat to read; he was taken from us too soon but he lived a full life while he walked among us…he was a one of a kind…Aloha Butch

I like to think of Butch as a true  “Gem”,  cut with many facets of life.

He could be as sweet and gentle or as fierce as any other and so talented in so many ways.

The out pouring of love at his memorial was such a beautiful Hawaiian send off that, I knew he was truly accepted by his Hawaiian brothers. Yes, he was one of a kind

Always Butchs’ Sis

There’s some great stories about Butch in here:

Lopez - (on Butch as a lifeguard) “He went on to single-handedly rescue more guys in trouble on the North Shore than probably anyone else ever will.”
