I am new to this forum but have been a frequent vistor for some time now.
I was wondering if anyone had ridden a Byrne Mullet Tuflite and if so how did it go. I have been offered one as part of a deal with my local shop. It looks like a nice shape but just wanted to know what it went like. Thinking about getting it shaped in PU if it goes well~!
I’ve fixed a couple of them and asked the guys who’ve ridden them what they go like and the really big guys say they’re ok, just a bit corky, big boxy rails and about 2 7/8" in thickness I think at about 21"+ wide. Smaller guys cant get the thing on a rail and the arse end slides out on anything over 3’.So if you’re a big fella might be OK.
Grab one and have a go, A couple of shops around here have them as demo boards.
Thanks for the replys guys I thought I was going to get flamed for asking about them!! I have been cowering behind the sofa!!
Yeah I am big fella
I am 6ft 4/5 and about 215lbs not fat I should add! All my boards are pretty chunky and pretty heavy I need a decent glass job! Usaully a 6 and 4 on the top or 6 and 6. I am looking forward to getting a light board at last! I have a semi sponsorship with a shop and have been offered an extremely good deal on one so finally bit the bullet! I have been an avid disliker of tuflites since day one and have built up a good relationship with a shaper but I have decided to add one to the quiver to see what they are like. My friends have flamed me but Curiosity has finally caught up with this cat!! My Twinny is 3 inches thick so dropping to 2.5 to 2 3/4 should keep it similar with the added floating of the tuflite.
Will give it go then and if it doesnt work I will sell it on for a profit ;)! Thanks for the responses guys much appreciated. I looked everywhere for a review and this seemed to the sensible place to ask people with the most exposure to all things surfbooard!
