hello,

Any cad program will work to some extent. What do you want to use it for? Templates only? Basically if the cad program can draw splines, that is all you need. I use SolidWorks, it is cool because everything is parametric, so you are looking at the outline and it has the dimensions on it and you can double click any dimension and change it to whatever. If you know the dimensions you want you just input them and its done, a perfect curve.
Well i had been taking a class in school in which accucad was a large protion of the work we did. We manufactured different parts for tables and chairs …just getting to know the software you know. Nothing to the extent of a surfboards though, I had read several articles about cad/cam surf design and though I would like to try to aply my knowlege of cad to that. I know its not that easy but i would like to learn . And yes templates probably would be one of the things i would use it most for . But i would also like to play around with designs and what not. Do You just print yours out from your pc?
I CNC mill most of my boards. And plot out templates for the ones I hand shape.
I also use SolidWorks. 3D parametric modeling programs are good for soft design experimentation which they are intended for. I do templates using CorelDraw, since they have alot of tools to modify lines into smooth curves. Adobe Illustrator is similar. Both can be printed-out on a plotter full size for templates.
i am not familiar with coral …could you explain some of that?
search the archives for instructions to make outlines in illustrator, some one put it up… it may even be in resources…
ok thanks
