Does anyone know if there is any free CAD software available? I am just thinking of something very simple that i could just plug some numbers into and see an outline, or something of the sort. Thanks.
Imsi Turbocad is the cheapest, easiest, most powerful CAD program I know of, especially for surfboards. Imsi offers a free learning version and a full trial version at the link below. Turbocad Pro’s Visual Basic compiler gives you the ability to import shapes from other programs. Turbocad standard and Pro have bezier curves which work just like the DAT surfboard design program. I wouldn’t be surprised to find Turbocad at the center of the DAT engine. With Turbocad beziers, you specify control points which you can warp with your mouse. You can even warp the curve end approaches. Autocad costs three times as much. Autocad won’t do any of this (or much else) nearly as well as Turbocad. I really don’t get anything out of this. I’m just stoked about Turbocad

Thanks. Hey Alex, Check out www.shape3d.com. There is a demo program that you can download for free. You can’t print or save shapes with the demo version, but if you want to just plug in some numbers and see an outline, this software will do the job. Also, if you go to www.datdesigner.com, there is a pretty good demo program that you can download, but it only lasts 30 days once you install it. Anyway, hope this helps. - Mike
Thanks guys.
