Hey, is the Roy Seaman in the group photo the same Mr. Seaman of CSK catamarans? Choy Seaman Kamalei?
Aloha llilibe 103,
Roy and Roy's older brother Gary grew up at Latigo Canyon right on the beach. Their father (I forget his name) designed and built his own catamarans primarily, I believe for racing (?).
Both Seamans did shape surfboards and were in the Malibu Surfing Association. I lost track of them several years ago but I've heard rumors that Roy was still shaping and maybe building cats as well (?).
I can't be sure but I don't think there was any connections with the CSK cats.
Sorry, not much help.
Aloha, Tak
Aloha Larry,
Thank you my friend for your kind words. It's been equally an honor for me to know you for all those years. In that time, you have taught me a lot about fin designs and their hydrodynamic features. You have done a good job of converting that knowledge into your fin system.
Much mahalo, Tak
Aloha,
Roy and Gary Seaman are certainly the sons of Warren Seaman, the ‘S’ of C/S/K Catamarans (Choy/ Seaman/ Kumalae).
Hello Tak,
Great to see your words here. Also great to see the respect that those in the know have expressed for you.
Hope to get back in touch and catch up. I miss being able to drop into CHP in Redondo and see you when I was visiting L.A.
Somehow lost contact information for you, so email we and we can reconnect.
Mahalo,
Steven
A related question for anyone that may know; Is Chris Nakamura of Proressive Shapes Honolulu part of the Nakamura family spoken of here? Just curious.
Kazumi Nakamura, former president of CHP Japan, sadly to say just past away and is left by his wife and two sons, Shingo and Daisuke. I am positive this Chris Nakamura has no family relations.
Not to revise a 6 year old thread but can anyone help me out with this one. I cant seem to find any info on this board. I’m confused because the board has both the CHP logo and the T&C logo and it dose not fall in line with the serial numbering system that appears on the majority of T&C’s. It looks like there are the initals GT on the deck by the leash plug and EM on the bottom with a modified looking Bertlemann logo . Appreciate the help in advance. Thanks
Dear members of this forum,
I am trying to find more about this board. Similar as the above, it has made in hawaii on the top, and california hawaii promotions on the bottom.
The only letters for a shaper ar E.M. (similar as above) and “for Fred” in pencil.
Any information would be greatly appreciated.
