can you use x-55 with Kwik Kick Epoxy?

Looking to lay down some color on the rails of an epoxy surfamabord inbetween da hotcoat and da gloss coat.  Been doing it with regular RR, but got some KK, and wanted it to go off real fast?  Does x-55 work with KK epoxy?

rh,

do a test

and get an answer really really fast !!

I'm afraid that it might blow up and burn down the shop?

afraid to blow stuff up?

who are you and what have you done with resinhead?!

Don’t you have some baby seals in the area to use as lab rats???

I guess if I dip them in the x-55 first, then additive F, then roll them in colbalt.........would they be easier to sand, or would they catch on fire?  Of course I'd clean with DNA first...no blush

Them as in lab ratz?  Baby seals are too cute

HA!!  LMAO!

I was told that KK is a “completely different system” than 2000 and you can’t use X-55. But I never tried it.

You can use X-55 and AdditiveF with the new resin.  http://www2.swaylocks.com/forums/kwik-kick-epoxy .  Straight from the horses mouth.

Just finished 3 boards using F with the KK.   The sanding coats are much harder as in hardness to sand.  Much better finished product but more elbow grease and more sandpaper needed than the CE.

Below 75 degrees I used a squeege to initially spread the resin on the sanding coat then finished with a brush.  Above 85 the brush works fine by itself.

Great link… thanks!

That's good to know thanks!  I'm gonna throw all of it in there and see what happens.  KK, color, x-55, and additive F.

resinhead, let us know how it goes…Im in a similar situation myself, and in the spirit of sways I figure someone else should go first…haha.

OK,

It worked for me pretty good....except the part of the greasy grubby taco hand contamination that left fisheyes.

I used 8 oz KK, a heaping spoonful of white pigment, additive F, and a couple of jigger squirts of x-55. I was sanding it in about 3 hrs.....It was still a tad bit green, but not too bad, almost like a poly time?

''jigger squirts''?? That must be metric.....

And what, no seal parts in this mix?

Oh...... , they were in the taco.

It's an Imperial measurement...the same measurement as a short board surfer uses to milk a gutless wave...Two pumps and a squirt.

Ran out of seal taco meat....but scored at the Coronado Islands the other day. 4 yellowtail (18-25lbs) and a big fat White Sea Bass about guessing 40-50 lbs.

Spring time is here.  Time to stash away the surfboards and move in to killing fish mode!....And if a seal gets in my way...so be it?!
