Ive been looking everywhere for some xps or eps foam that is 2lb density but I cant find it anywhere nearby. I have found foamular 600 and dow high load 60 but I cant find a store that sells it. I live in Portland Oregon and I would like to buy a foam block so I can make my own blank. If you know of any stores or anything that sells a quality eps or xps foam block, I would appreciate if you left a post. Thanks
boat stores, dock foam?
No blocks, But I’ve got lots of Poly and quite a few EPs slab blanks at ridiculous prices. Lots of Poly “seconds” 50–75% savings. Unless you just want to go thru the drill for the sake of the learning experience. If you consider the cost of your labor, a hotwire(and yes boys I know he can make his own), the block, glue, clamps and stringer material. I know quite a few guys up here who have alot of EPS experience and they are over it. You can get 2 lb. in Oregon. There are a couple of sources. Better luck in Wash. State. Lightest densities are scarce in the Beaver state… If you can cut a good rockered, stringered shortboard blank blank for $25 --$45 let me know. Try a an excellent Arctic 1st glassed with Epoxy. Within 5 or 6 ounces of an EPS blank and much better quality than a piece of “dock” foam. No spackling or sealing necessary. Also have epoxy and cloth. Oregon Shapers in Pacific City. Lowel
